Blue gingham comes from bistro tablecloths and children's dresses: a pattern you recognise without having to look at it, and one that makes a clutch familiar rather than elegant. It is also a forgiving pattern: a fingermark or a splash shows far less on it than on a pale plain cloth.
The raspberry red thread brings the third colour the gingham does not have: two threads are enough to weave a check, the embroidery adds the rest. The same check dresses our large tote bag and our napkin. The other colourways are in our clutches and drawstring bags.
