Grey does not date: it is the colourway that goes from the first year of school to secondary without the child finding it too young for them. Dark blue is the thread that reads best on it: a pale thread would look washed out, a bright one would clash with the plainness of the ground.
The inside pockets hold the rubber, the glue, the sharpener and the scissors, and the embroidered first name brings the case back from the far end of the classroom.
