The stripe is woven rather than printed: it goes right through the cloth, it does not fade, and the reverse is as good as the face. Napkins Grenadine Stripes: personalised embroidery, made in France
The threads are dyed before they are woven: the pattern is in the cloth, not laid on its surface. The reverse is as sharp as the face, and the stripe does not shift over the washes, where a printed stripe fades through the surface.
Grenadine red and white make the classic stripe of French table linen, the stripe of bistro cloths. The dark blue of the embroidery adds a deliberately offset third tone, which pulls the whole out of the expected red and white. The placemats and the tablecloth in the same stripe are in our napkins and our tablecloths.
